Estimado/a colega,
Solicitamos su colaboración para la difusión de la apertura del llamado para la Beca Presidente Néstor Kirchner, cuyo objetivo es apoyar la formación de jóvenes líderes de América del Sur. Esta beca está inspirada en el legado y los logros que ha dejado el ex-presidente Néstor Kirchner durante su gestión como primer mandatario de la República Argentina (2003-2007), sumados a la importante tarea que desempeñó como primer Secretario General de la UNASUR (2010).
La Beca La beca consiste en una estadía de dos semanas en la New School University, durante las cuales el becario/a presentará sus trabajos ante estudiantes y académicos de la New School University, se entrevistará con líderes políticos y sociales, y realizará distintas actividades, como visitas a organismos gubernamentales locales y multinacionales, además de museos y bibliotecas universitarias y públicas.
En este llamado se otorgarán dos becas: - La Beca 1 se entregará a un/a ciudadano/a argentino/a, y se desarrollará del 6 al 20 de noviembre de 2011.
- La Beca 2 se entregará a un/a ciudadano/a de otro país sudamericano, excluyendo Argentina, y se desarrollará del 26 de febrero al 11 de marzo de 2012.
Perfil de los aspirantes Los aspirantes deben estar en las primeras etapas de sus carreras en ambos de los dos siguientes campos: - En el campo académico, donde deben haber completado un título de postgrado (máster o doctorado) en los últimos quince años o estar actualmente realizando una carrera de postgrado;
- En el campo político/sociedad civil, donde deben realizar o haber realizado actividades de servicio público en organismos del Estado nacional, provincial o municipal, o en asociaciones u organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONG).
Áreas de investigación relacionadas a América del Sur Los aspirantes deben estar trabajando en uno o más de los siguientes campos: 1. Relaciones económicas internacionales; 2. Democracia y medios de comunicación; 3. Pobreza y políticas sociales; 4. Rol del Estado; 5. Cooperación e integración regional; 6. Inclusión y justicia social; 7. Democracia y derechos humanos; 8. Promoción de la educación y la cultura política; 9. Administración económica nacional; 10. Ciudades, diseño y desarrollo social.
Los aspirantes deberán tener una experiencia comprobable de un mínimo de cuatro años y un máximo de 15 años en el campo político/sociedad civil. Se requiere dominio del idioma inglés.
La fecha límite para la recepción de las Solicitudes y Documentos Anexos es el 30 de junio de 2011.

Dear colleague,
We would like to ask for your collaboration in the dissemination of the announcement of thePresident Néstor Kirchner Fellowship, whose objective is to support the training of young leaders from South America. This Fellowship has been inspired by the recognition of the legacy and achievements of the late President of Argentina Nestor Kirchner (2003-2007), and his work as the first Secretary General of UNASUR (2010).
The Fellowship The fellowship consists of a two-week stay at The New School in New York, during which the Fellow will present his/her work to students and faculty of The New School, will meet with political and civil society leaders, and will take part in various other activities such as visits to local government offices and multinational organizations, as well as tour museums, and public and university libraries.
This call for applications will award two fellowships: - Fellowship 1 will be awarded to an Argentine citizen, and will take place November 6-20, 2011.
- Fellowship 2 will be awarded to citizens from another country of South America, excluding Argentina, and will take place February 26-March 11, 2012.
Applicants' profile Applicants must be in the early stages of their careers which must include activities in both of the following fields: - In the academic field they must have either completed a postgraduate degree (master or doctorate) within the past fifteen years or are currently working towards a postgraduate degree;
- In the political/civil society field, they must be either currently working or have previously worked in public service organizations of the state at the national, provincial, or municipal levels, or in a registered non-governmental association or organizations (NGOs).
Substantive research areas related to South America Eligible applicants should be working in one or more of the following fields: 1. International Economic Relations; 2. Democracy and Media; 3. Poverty and Social Policy; 4. Role of the State; 5. Regional Cooperation and Integration; 6. Inequality and Social Justice; 7. Democracy and Human Rights; 8. Promotion of Democratic Culture and Education; 9. National Economic Management; 10. Cities, Design, and Social Development.
Applicants must have verifiable experience of a minimum of 4 years and maximum of 15 years in political/civil society fields, and are required to have English proficiency.
The deadline to submit the application is June 30, 2011.
